Our client in Century City, Cape Town is seeking a Part-Time Remote Bookkeeper to join their team, working flexible hours as needed. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years’ proven experience in bookkeeping, strong proficiency in SAGE and MS Office, and a degree in Financial Accounting (BAcc, BCom, BCompt or equivalent). A Certified Bookkeeper qualification will be advantageous. This role involves assisting a small company with tax and payroll and managing their books. It is an excellent opportunity for someone who is currently employed or running their own business and looking to supplement their income. Although the position is remote, applicants must reside in Cape Town, as occasional visits to the office will be required.

        REQUIREMENTS:
        • Minimum of 5 years’ proven experience in bookkeeping or a similar role
        • Strong proficiency in accounting software, particularly SAGE
        • Proficiency in MS Office
        • Degree in Financial Accounting (BAcc, BCom, BCompt, or equivalent)
        • Certified Bookkeeper qualification will be advantageous
        • Candidates must reside in Cape Town
         
        DUTIES:
        • Accurately record financial transactions (sales, purchases, payments, receipts, and journals) in accounting software or ledgers.
        • Maintain accurate and complete ledger entries, regularly reconciling discrepancies in financial records.
        • Perform monthly bank reconciliations to ensure the accuracy of financial data.
        • Conduct monthly reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts and related ledgers.
        • Manage and reconcile petty cash, credit card purchases, and sales representatives’ travel and accommodation expenses.
        • Oversee fleet management administration, including managing fuel cards, logbooks, and the accounting function for fleet vehicles.
        • Assist with tax preparation by gathering and organizing financial data for tax submissions and audits, including the monthly VAT201 reconciliation and submission.
        • Prepare and generate financial reports for internal review.
        • Manage the purchase order process, including creating purchase orders, sending them to suppliers, following up on deliveries, matching purchase orders to delivery notes, and reporting on outstanding purchase orders at month-end.
        • Assist with the preparation of annual audit files and provide feedback to auditors.
        • Perform all other financial and administrative duties related to this position.
