Our mine, situated in the Limpopo Province about 60 kilometers from Lydenburg and 40 kilometers from Burgersfort, and is a world-class producer of Chrome Ore.

The successful applicant will report to the Chargehand or nominee.   

MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:                                            

• Grade 10 / Standard 8 Certificate.
• Competent B Certificate.
• Blasting Assistant Certificate.
• Code 08 (B) Driver’s Licence.

EXPERIENCE (including but not limited to):

• Completion of a relevant, approved training programme.
• 1 year practical underground Mining experience.
• Advantageous: 6 months UV Operator experience.

DUTIES (including but not limited to):

• Operate the machinery allocated to him/her in such a way that material and explosives is supplied safely and within time without damage to the machinery. To ensure that the transporting of the material and explosives are according to approved procedures. To report breakdowns and problems regarding material availability. To take responsibility for all activities under his/her control regarding safety. To ensure all Codes of Practice and Standard Operating Procedures are adhered to.
• Conduct pre-start checks using a checklist, resolve problems within scope of work. Operate the mining equipment to achieve production requirements. Operate and control various types of mechanical equipment (emulsion, diesel refueling, material delivery) and machinery. Continuously observe / monitor component performance against standards to identify any sub performance / non-conformance or deviations, and report to Supervisor. e.g. listening to the health of the machine, resolve cutting and joining the lens
• Report breakdowns/damages timeously to the control room operator.
• Take care and do minor maintenance on assigned vehicle.
• Safe delivery and handling / charging of explosives and emulsion by following procedures.
• Ensure delivery and handling / charging of explosives according to Standard Operating Procedure.
• Ensure only designated areas are used.
• Record position of vehicle and defects at end of shifts in Logbook and report to supervisor.
• Provide assistance in blasting the face by inserting fuse into lens, press charge button to release emulsion. Assist carrying of charging pipe and insert in holes.
• Adhere to Key Control Procedure.
