IVANHOE MINES is looking for a Engineering Applications Specialist.

Ivanhoe is focused on developing and expanding its four principal mining and exploration projects in Southern Africa. The development of the Kamoa-Kakula copper mining complex in the Democratic Republic of Congo(DRC), the Platreef palladium-rhodium-platinum-nickel-copper-gold discovery in South Africa, the extensive redevelopment and upgrading of the historic Kipushi zinc-copper-germanium-silver mine, also in the Democratic Republic of Congo and exploration on the Western Foreland, near Kamoa-Kakula.

The incumbent will focus on the results of existing systems, improve data flows, develop the data hub, ensure data quality is maintained and run scheduled integration applications.
The incumbent will assist in the establishment of the engineering systems environment for Ivanhoe Operations in support of the Engineering Systems Manager.
Core functions will include the organizing of, and participation in, application architecture sessions, workshops with operations, workshops with suppliers, support of an integrated set of applications, project manage new technologies and ensure integration services run effectively.
The incumbent will assist with managing supplier contracts.
Mandatory Qualifications and experience:
- Engineering Degree from a university preferably Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Applications implementation experience (1-3 years)
- Engineering systems experience (1-3 years)
- Project management experience (1-3 years)
- Systems architecture experience regarded a plus (1 year)
Advantageous skills:
- Interdisciplinary understanding regarding the applications landscape
- Technical aptitude
- Digital control systems
Technical Skills should include:
- Managing complex engineering applications and projects
- Project management, planning and budgeting
- Understanding of databases, integration, data elements and reporting
- Understanding of underground mining applications, fleet management and production systems
Your Key Performance Activities will include but not limited to:
- Manage data flow, data quality, reports, integration and system improvements
- Build and maintain dashboards
- Regularly visit Ivanhoe operations
- Coordinate engineering application projects and services
- Project manage the implementation of new technologies
- Monitor 3rd party services and manage contracts
- Monitor supporting technologies
- Report to operational management on projects
- Assist in the control room design, implementation and operation
- Train, guide and manage the Group Applications internships and vacation students
- Readiness to manage internal engineering & data roles if approved in the future
- Negotiate with engineering system suppliers for appropriate specialist personnel, services & application licenses
- Manage system-based roles related to projects, in particular Engineering, C&I and HR staff
Additional requirement:
Ability to do occasional travelling.
