TMM SERVICEPERSON (Grading B5)                                                                                                                     

Job specification

• Grade 10, 11, 12 or equivalent qualification
• Mechanical and Electrical Engineering academic background is required, preferably N courses
• Must pass Dover Test with “A” Symbol
• Must be in position of a valid driver’s license (code 8-10)
• Proficient in English and any other of the 11 official languages
• Interpersonal communications skills are required and essential
• Ability to work flexible hours and perform standby duties
• South African Citizenship
• Clear Criminal Record

  Responsibilities

• Working a cycle of shifts
• Assist Artisans with routine servicing and lubrication of TMM equipment and other automotive or mechanical maintenance and repairs
• Change of oil, oil filters and air filters, replace broken lights, checks water and antifreeze level, oil level, checks air in tires and in accordance with the required pressure and repairs and change tires if necessary
• Assist Artisans in performing moderate to complex overhaul and repair work on engines, transmissions, drive unit, brakes, suspension systems, hydraulic systems, fuel systems, cooling systems, alternators, and other electrical and instrumentation systems
• Assist with other relevant duties as may be assigned by an artisan from time to time
• Liaison with the supervisor/s for effective and efficient operation of mechanical and electrical equipment
• Maintain good housekeeping in and around the workplace
• Conduct all work according to required standards and specifications
• Adhere to MHSA standards & Gold1’s safety motto : “Nothing is so important that it cannot be done safely”
