The positions report directly to the Managing Director of the Sernick Animal Feed Factory.

Sernick Animal Feeds is a subsidiary of the Sernick Group value chain, founded by Sernick Group Chairman Nick Serfontein in 1997. Sernick Animal Feeds produces an outstanding range of 130 mixes, including dairy and cattle feeds, licks, feed for pigs, sheep, broilers, and hatchers in the poultry industry, as well as pellets for game farms.

Sernick Animal Feeds has a strong brand and client base specifically in the Free State and adjacent provinces, but it is on an exploration path to expand nationally.
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
We are looking for a results-driven and self-motivated Animal Feed Salesperson with a strong understanding of the agricultural and livestock sector. The ideal candidate will have a passion for building long-term customer relationships, the ability to identify customer needs and provide effective feed solutions, and a proven track record in achieving sales targets. Strong communication skills, technical product knowledge, and the ability to work independently in a field-based role are essential.
ROLE PURPOSE
To promote the sales of the range of Sernick Animal Feeds products, and to provide technical and product support as required by Sernick Animal Feeds, customers and prospective customers. Achieve sales budgets and objectives for the region you are responsible for, and increase the sales footprint in the region, as well as improve the viability of farms and farmers.

Candidate Requirements
REQUIREMENTS
- A qualification in Agriculture, Animal Science, or a related field (e.g., B.Com/B.Sc).
- SACNASP registration as an animal nutritionist. If you have not yet registered, you must be able to do so.
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in the sales and marketing of animal feed products.
- Good computer literacy in MS Office, and especially in MS Excel.
- Own reliable vehicle with a valid driver’s licence.
- Ability to build and maintain productive professional relationships and work standards.
- Target-driven with excellent selling, negotiation, and communication skills in both English and Afrikaans.
- Prioritising, time management, and organisational skills as well as the ability to work remotely and mostly on his/her own in a fast-paced, pressurised environment.
- Clear criminal record.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary function of this position will be:
- Develop and implement a marketing/sales strategy for the designated region.
- Product development input when required.
- Technical advice and support to clients and prospective clients.
- Manage overall customer satisfaction.
- Meet sales targets as agreed with the Managing Director and provide detailed feedback on actual sales and forecasts.
- Budgeting and costing.
- Direct client liaison and support.
- Proactive research into sales opportunities.
- Aggressively targeting identified sales opportunities.
- The scope of the function, however, is not limited to a specific role and can be adapted to meet operational requirements, whereby you will cross-functionally support others within the Group.
