Main Purpose: Manage and maintain the consumable warehouse at Bethal to ensure that the stock is available for issuing on request.
Key Performance Areas:
Receipt of consumables
- Control the receipt of consumables to ensure that the correct goods are received in accordance with the purchase order.
- Ensure that the prices reflected on invoices correspond with the prices on the orders.
- Approve invoices for payment.
- Complete a GRVs on Navision.
- Forward all invoices to Creditors Department for payment.
Issue of consumables
- Allocate and control timeous issuing of consumables to site as per requirements/requests and track progress daily.
- In case of consumables shortages, inform the Depot Manager to assist. Consult with Site Management on possible reallocation of overstocked consumables in sub stores within the group.
- Ensure proper authorization of requests.
- Ensure completion of waybills.
- Ensure that all issues are punched into Navision.
Administration and control
- Ensure consumables are stored in warehouse according to bin allocations for easy access.
- Ensure all consumables are identifiable per unique stock number.
- Cycle counts to be done daily.
- Determines stock levels, monitor the movement of stock and order additional items when required.
- Manage minimum and maximum stock levels, orders to be placed as soon as minimum stock level is reached.
- Follow up on order and delivery of stock on a daily basis.
- Any other job-related duties as required from time to time.
People management
- Assess the performance of Employees twice a year and keep record of assessments.
- Provide guidance and support where necessary.
- Do succession planning for responsible area.
- Identify training and development needs and recommend appropriate courses.
- Initiate and facilitate grievance and disciplinary procedures.
- Administer employee’s time and attendance and leaver requests.
Safety management
- Conduct weekly and monthly Supervisor’s inspections.
- Do daily toolbox and safety talks.
- Oversee loading and offloading of consumables.
- Ensure proper packing and stacking of consumables in relevant laydown areas and bin locations.
- Conduct job observations.
- Do task risk assessments.
- Draw up written safe work procedures.
- Report and investigate incidents, unsafe conditions and acts.
- Ensure compliance with the OHS Act including relevant regulations, SANS standards and other relevant procedures and instructions.
Competencies/skills:
- Ability to lead and motivate people.

- Ability to handle conflict situations effectively.
Preferred Requirements:
- Grade 12/N3
- Certificate or Diploma in Logistics Manager would be advantageous.
- 5 Years’ supervisory experience in a warehouse with relevant supervisory training.
- Knowledge of the OHS Act, relevant regulations and safety standards (risk assessments, safe work procedures and housekeeping practices).
- Computer literate (MS Office).
