Vacancy Details
Ensure that all orders are correctly picked and ready for dispatch on a daily basis and to ensure all staff complete all allocated tasks on a daily basis. This function includes ensuring that all procedures are followed during picking and checking, and to ensure that picking and checking is done correctly in accordance with standards.
Key Performance Area (KPA)
Picker / Checker Performance
· Ship Dock reassign and release all Bays on WMS
· Plan staffing resources based on volumes that will be picked daily which must be in line with Budgets as set out by your manager
· Ensure that you deal with all absenteeism as and when it happens and that disciplinary actions is carried out on all staff that have a trend for absenteeism
· Ensure that weekly meeting is held with all staff at beginning of shift to discuss operational issues and the plan Picking for the shift
· Ensure pickers perform at the required levels which are determined by your manager and will be measured on cases picked per hour. The standard is 60 tasks and 200 cases per hour.
· Ensure all MHE operators perform at the standards as agreed on the Job Descriptions for all different functions that will be performed within the Warehouse i.e. Replenishment, Full Pallet Picking, Marshall
· Ensure correct Picking according to FIFO
· Ensure at start of shift you print sufficient labels for all the Pickers
· Ensure that all Picking queries is investigated timeously and fixed up immediately.
· Once the Pick has been completed for the Day ensure that Bays on WMS is shipped
· Ensure that Checklist and Pallet Summary is printed and available for the Checking Process
· Conduct frequent walks in the Warehouse to ensure that all staff are actively engaged in their respective Work Areas
· Ensure that checkers do the required checks on the stock in the various cages in line with company procedures.
· Allocate Distribution Cages to each of the Checking Team
· Ensure that all Checkers meet the standard Check Rate of 10 Loads per Shift
· Should the checking team find shortages/damages within the cage ensure that the picker responsible for the picking of the stock collects the items short picked or replaces the items damaged in the cage for a new check.
· Once first check completed
· Ensure that all Pallet Summaries is posted and recorded in the pallet summary book
· Ensure that pickers complete daily tasks and assist in housekeeping functions before they leave their Workstation.
· Investigate all short and over picks with the Log Admin staff and carry out necessary disciplinary action against your staff
· Ensure that disciplinary action is taken immediately for all staff that do not meet the required standards as set down by your manager
· Train all new Pickers and MHE Operators on proper use of scanners, Pick Process within the warehouse and
· Material Handling Processes
· Maintain lean and tidy warehouse and handover to next shift in good condition
· Ensure all procedures, SOP’s, GMP’s and Safety rules are being followed in a consistent manner by all employees
· Work with Distribution in ensuring that all cages are loaded as quick as possible so that new stock can be marshalled
· Handle all staff disciplinary action in line with company procedures, rule and regulations
Warehouse damages
· Ensure that all warehouse damages are kept to a minimum and are in line with the accepted warehouse damages 0.005 % as determined by your manager.
· Ensure that all staff is held accountable for all warehouse damages through negligence and AOD with incident report is submitted to HR for action
General
· Assist with lock up procedures as required.
· Maintain Health & Safety standards.
· Audit warehouse aisles daily for cleanliness and racking issues for damages
· Ensure that all key points within the Warehouse is always clear I.E: Fire exits, fire equipment etc.
· Ensure that staff are always using their Protective Clothing
· Ensure that all Chep pallets is accounted for on a weekly basis
· Assist Management with any other task as required.
· Ensure strict control measures are in place for the following:
· All your staff are accounted for after tea and lunch breaks
· All keys are locked in the key cabinet and when issued out it is signed out and in when it is returned to you by means of signing the Key Register book
· Ensure that the RDT room is locked at all times and that all RDT is signed in and out of the RDT room in the RDT book
· Ensure that Calls are logged with IT whenever the system goes down. Keep records on the Call Log Incident Report
· Manage and control all MHE Checklists
· Ensure that you do a proper handover with the next shift that takes over and that the handover includes a walkabout in the warehouse
· Checking process

Housekeeping
· Maintain a clean and uncluttered work area.
· Ensure pallets in the pick faces are levelled and straightened throughout the day
· Level all pallets throughout the day
· Ensure warehouse is cleaned daily and arrange cleaners to sort out any areas that are not
· Ensure warehouse is uncluttered and arrange removal of anything that should not be stored in the warehouse
Health and Safety
· Adhere to safety rules
· Ensure all personnel are issued with Personal Protective Equipment
· Ensure staff adhere to SHEQ rules and policy at all times
· Arrange for training as per training matrix
· Ensure that operation adheres to all certification standards – ISO9001, SQAS, LAP and IATF
Required Skills
- Warehouse Supervising: 4 to 5 years
- Picking Supervision: 5 to 6 years
- Controllers: 5 to 6 years
Candidate Requirements
Academic:
- Matric
- Computer Literate i.e MS Excel. Work and Outlook, Proteus and Dispatcher.
Experience
- Minimum requirements - 5 years’ experience in a warehouse environment

· Knowledge of Health and Safety Procedures would be advantageous
· Ability to schedule tasks and prioritizes actions.
· Ability to allocate resources effectively and delegate tasks.
· Able to work long hours and rotating day/night shifts.
· Ability to write reports
· Must have sound knowledge and understanding of KPI’s and performance management
