Description: 

We are looking for a self-motivated individual to join us in making an impact to the lives of South Africans. The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Managing functions relating to the DA’s international work and relations, through the International Office
  • Managing foreign development projects and ensuring compliance with Political Party Funding Act
  • Coordinating functions, projects and programmes that support the DA as a learning organization
  • Coordinating functions to enhance the DA international footprint
  • Supporting the department in project management and coordination of activities
  • Developing and maintaining strong, strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders to advance the party’s political objectives and work towards expanding our foreign funding

Minimum requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree
  • 2 years’ experience in an administrative role with a focus on coordination and project management 
  • Relevant staff management experience, including on project basis or completion of the Party’s Management Readiness Programme (applicable to internal candidates) 
  • Computer Literacy MS Suite)
  • Exposure to international work, including diplomacy, interacting with international stakeholders, etc.  (advantageous) 
  • Experience in a liberal political party or associated environment (advantageous) 
  • Experience in managing donor funding and reporting (advantageous)

  • Good understanding of technical systems and processes in order to ensure integration between these

  • Budget management 
  • Stakeholder relations management 

Abilities:

  • Fast learner
  • Use initiative and work well in high-pressure situations

  • Apply sound judgement

Knowledge and commitment:

  • Local, provincial and national political and legislative framework and dynamics 
  • Spheres of government and the party/political divide 
  • International political sphere, international bodies 
  • Liberal philosophy 
  • Commitment to the principles, policies and programme of action of the Democratic Alliance
  • Willingness to go the extra mile, which may include working long and irregular hours, weekends, and public holidays where necessary
