The Curio Sales role is responsible for delivering exceptional guest service while driving retail sales within the curio shop. The position focuses on sales performance, stock control, merchandise presentation, and accurate cash handling, contributing to a positive guest experience in a hospitality environment.Key Duties and ResponsibilitiesProvide professional, friendly, and engaging service to all guests and visitorsActively promote and sell curio, gift, and retail merchandiseMaximise sales opportunities through product knowledge and upsellingEnsure high standards of merchandise display and visual presentationOperate point-of-sale systems and handle cash and card transactions accuratelyComplete daily cash-ups and maintain accurate sales recordsManage stock receiving, pricing, stock rotation, and inventory controlConduct regular stock counts and report variancesMaintain cleanliness and organisation of the curio shop at all timesHandle guest queries, requests, and complaints professionallyAdhere to company policies, procedures, and hospitality standardsSupport operational requirements during peak periods when required
Requirements and Qualifications
Grade 12 (Matric) – essential
Previous experience in retail sales or hospitality preferred
Experience in a curio shop, boutique, or lodge environment advantageous
Basic computer literacy and point-of-sale system experience
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Sales-driven, honest, and reliable
Ability to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
Key Competencies
Strong sales and customer service skills
Attention to detail and numerical accuracy
Professional appearance and conduct
Ability to work independently and take responsibility
Good organisational and time-management skills
