Purpose of the Role
A Product Owner is responsible for defining, prioritising, and managing the product backlog for Nymbis Operations. This role serves as the bridge between business stakeholders and the Engineering teams as well as the development teams, ensuring that product features align with business objectives and deliver maximum value to users. The Product Owner will work closely with Product Managers and cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into actionable user stories and guide the product development process through Agile methodologies.
High-Level Job Objectives
Product Ownership & Strategy — Define and maintain the the product backlog based on Product Managers and Engineering input and business value and user needs, and create well-refined user stories with clear acceptance criteria
Stakeholder Management & Communication — Collaborate with internal stakeholders across marketing, sales, customer support, and executive teams; gather and analyze requirements; and communicate product updates and roadmap changes
Agile Process Management — Actively participate in Scrum ceremonies, work with the Scrum Master to maintain team velocity, define sprint goals, remove blockers, and monitor sprint progress
Business Analysis & Requirements — Conduct thorough analysis of business processes, document functional and non-functional requirements, create process maps and user journey documentation, and develop business cases for new features
Product Validation — Validate completed features against acceptance criteria and business requirements, perform user testing, and gather stakeholder feedback
Team Leadership & Mentoring — Mentor junior Business Analysts in product management best practices, guide team members in user story writing, and support team onboarding and knowledge sharing
Backlog Grooming & Sprint Planning — Conduct regular backlog grooming sessions, ensure stories are ready for development, collaborate with the development team on story point estimation, and plan sprint capacity
Incident Response & Sprint Execution — Make real-time decisions on scope changes and feature adjustments during sprints to ensure sprint goals are met and team productivity is maintained
Core Skills
Essential Technical Skills
Proven mid-to-senior-level product ownership or product management experience
Advanced proficiency in business process mapping and requirements analysis
Advanced knowledge of Agile methodologies including Scrum, sprint planning, and backlog management
Advanced expertise in business acumen and risk identification
Proficiency in product management tools (Jira, Azure DevOps, Confluence)
Strong user story writing and acceptance criteria definition skills
Ability to conduct thorough business process analysis and identify improvement opportunities
Skill in creating detailed process maps and user journey documentation
Experience with backlog grooming and sprint planning
Ability to estimate and plan sprint capacity with development teams
Intermediate Skills
Intermediate understanding of data analysis and business intelligence tools
Intermediate knowledge of project management methodologies and tools
Experience with user testing and stakeholder feedback gathering
Ability to develop business cases for new features and enhancements
Gap analysis capabilities between current and desired states
Desirable Skills
Experience with cloud services
Knowledge of market research and competitive analysis
Advanced analytics and reporting skills
Experience mentoring junior team members
