They are currently seeking a Senior AI Engineer to join their team on a hybrid basis (1 day per week in-office), based at their Head Office in Pretoria. This is a senior, hands-on role combining deep software engineering expertise with advanced AI architecture and technical leadership.

Requirements:

·        IT Degree (Computer Science, Engineering, or related field)

·        6+ years of general Software Engineering experience.

·        Demonstrated technical leadership in delivering complex software projects.

·        Proven portfolio or track record of building LLM-based applications or agents.

Technical Skills

AI & Language Stack

·        Python (expert – mandatory)

·        LangChain (production experience); LangGraph advantageous

·        Vector databases: Pinecone, Weaviate, Qdrant, pgvector

·        RAG systems, fine-tuning trade-offs, inference cost & latency optimisation

Backend & Infrastructure

·        FastAPI or Flask (async design)

·        PostgreSQL (advanced); NoSQL understanding

·        Cloud: AWS (Bedrock, SageMaker, Lambda, ECS) or Azure

·        Docker, Kubernetes or ECS

·        IaC: Terraform, AWS CDK, or CloudFormation

Engineering

·        System design (microservices, event-driven architecture, SOLID)

·        Frontend integration: React, Vue, or Angular

·        Testing (Pytest), code reviews, CI/CD pipelines

·        Git mastery and collaborative workflows
