Purpose:
To lead the development and execution of strategies for the Sustainability Framework and Roadmap i.e. ESG Framework; the reduction of the SABN’s Carbon Footprint; the oversight of the Sustainability Projects; and Environmental and Climate-related Compliance and Regulations.
Main Responsibilities (not limited to):
• Manage and provide leadership to the environmental sustainability team.
• Create and implement sustainability strategies tailored to the SABN's goals, by identifying areas for
improvement, setting measurable targets, and developing plans to enhance environmental sustainability.
• Minimise the SABN's environmental impact, by overseeing initiatives to reduce energy and water
consumption, manage waste, and promote the use of renewable resources by implementing energy-efficient
technologies, waste reduction programs, and eco-friendly practices.
• Ensure the SABN complies with environmental regulations and standards.
• Prepare sustainability reports, detailing the SABN's performance in areas such as greenhouse gas emissions,
water usage, and waste management.
• Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including employees, customers and suppliers, in order to
develop campaigns regarding sustainability initiatives and foster collaboration to enhance the SABN's
environmental impact.
• Stay informed about emerging sustainability and climate change trends and technologies and research
innovative solutions, evaluate the feasibility of implementing new practices, and assess the potential impact
on the SABN's sustainability goals.
• Develop training programs for employees and stakeholders, to improve the knowledge regarding sustainable
practices and encouraging behaviour change.
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of sustainability initiatives with the use of data analytics, tracking
progress of the sustainability strategy and its initiatives.
• Identifying areas for improvement, while leading and sustaining the SABN's sustainability strategy and
initiatives.
The Preferred Candidate is likely to have:
• BSc Degree in Environmental Management or Environmental Science or equivalent
• ESG Certification will be an added advantage
• 5 years working experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment in an Environmental
Management Role
• Experience in carbon accounting
• Previous management/supervisory experience
Knowledge and Skills:
• Well-developed knowledge of Carbon Footprint Analysis for assessment
• Basic knowledge of United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs), IFRS, Global Reporting
Initiative (GRI) and Paris Agreement
• Technical expertise in understanding international best practices in terms of ESG Standards
• Understanding of Data Analysis techniques and methodologies
• Broad knowledge of Project Management principles and application
• Well-developed knowledge of ISO14001
• Mathematical and statistical skills
• Verbal, written and presentation communication skills
• Well-developed interpersonal skills and ability to manage stakeholders
• Ability to write suitability reports
• Ability to lead, motivate and manage the performance of a team
