A new position has opened up for a Factory Manager in the Randburg area. You will be responsible for leading and coordinating all factory operations for the Company. The role focuses on delivering production targets safely, efficiently, and in line with quality standards, while ensuring daily activities support business goals, customer requirements, and cost efficiency.

- Grade 12
- Solid Factory floor/Production flow and staff management experience (non-negotiable)
- Experience within the steel/metals industry
- Be willing to work overtime when necessary, but at least 1-2 Saturdays a month

Duties and Responsibilities:
Production & Operations Management
- Manage and coordinate day-to-day production activities across all factory functions.
- Ensure production plans are achieved in accordance with sales forecasts and customer delivery timelines.
- Track and improve machine utilisation, downtime, and overall production output.
- Ensure production documentation, job cards, and routing are completed accurately.
- Continuously improve production processes, workflow, and efficiency.
- Ensure all manufactured products meet the Company’s quality standards and agreed customer specifications.
- Enforce compliance with standard operating procedures, work instructions, and quality systems.
- Oversee inspection activities, material checks, and final product verification.
- Investigate quality issues, non-conformances, and customer complaints.
- Implement corrective and preventative actions to prevent recurrence.
- Engage with suppliers and customers on quality-related matters when necessary.
- Ensure full compliance with health and safety legislation and Company policies.
- Promote a proactive safety culture throughout the factory.
- Ensure employees are trained in safe working practices and equipment operation.
- Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
- Maintain high housekeeping and workplace organisation standards (5S).
- Investigate incidents and near misses and implement corrective measures.
- Lead, supervise, and motivate supervisors, team leaders, and production staff.
- Clearly communicate performance expectations, targets, and responsibilities.
- Manage attendance, discipline, and performance in line with Company procedures.
- Identify skills gaps and support training and development initiatives.
- Promote teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Maintain accurate control of raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods.
- Oversee stock counts and investigate discrepancies.
- Ensure materials are used correctly according to specifications and job requirements.
- Reduce waste, rework, and scrap across operations.
- Ensure factory equipment, tools, and assets are maintained and fit for purpose.
- Work closely with Maintenance to reduce breakdowns and unplanned downtime.
- Monitor labour productivity, material usage, and overall production costs.
- Identify and implement cost-reduction initiatives without impacting quality or safety.
- Manage overtime and workforce planning in line with production needs.
- Provide performance data and insights to management.
- Review and analyse daily, weekly, and monthly production performance.
- Ensure accurate documentation and record-keeping for production, quality, and labour.
- Escalate operational risks, delays, or issues to senior management.
- Participate in operational and management planning meetings.
- Monitor key performance indicators and drive corrective actions where required.
- Support on-time and in-full (OTIF) delivery targets.
- Ensure factory operations meet customer service and quality expectations.
- Assist with customer audits, site visits, and technical discussions as needed.
- Align factory priorities with the Company’s strategic and operational objectives.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives across production, quality, and logistics.
- Support the implementation of new systems, equipment, and process enhancements.
- Encourage problem-solving and accountability at all organisational levels.
- Ensure changes are communicated effectively, supported by training, and embedded into daily operations.
