Role Purpose
The Electronics Engineer is responsible for supporting the Operations Manager with the design, development, testing, installation, and maintenance of electronic equipment used within public transport and transportation systems.
The role works collaboratively within a cross-functional environment, contributing to high-quality, compliant, and reliable electronic solutions. The Electronics Engineer ensures that all systems meet technical standards, customer requirements, and regulatory specifications while supporting commissioning, quality assurance, and ongoing operational performance.
Key Responsibilities
System Design & Engineering Support
Engage with customers, transport engineers, and internal stakeholders to understand existing and future equipment requirements for public transport solutions.
Design and develop electronic and electrical equipment in line with project and operational requirements.
Prepare electrical system specifications, technical drawings, and installation documentation.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
Prepare, implement, and communicate quality assurance plans and requirements to all project stakeholders.
Ensure installation, maintenance, and operational activities conform to applicable standards, codes, and customer specifications.
Establish and maintain manufacturing, installation, and testing standards.
Installation, Testing & Commissioning
Coordinate and oversee installation activities to ensure compliance with approved designs and specifications.
Conduct regular on-site inspections of installation activities.
Coordinate testing and commissioning activities, providing technical guidance on procedures and documentation.
Project & Cost Support
Prepare technical specifications for the procurement of equipment and materials.
Estimate material and labour costs to support budgeting and project planning.
Support project execution by working closely with technicians and contracted service providers.
People & Stakeholder Coordination
Participate in the selection of contracted staff where required.
Supervise and support the training of project teams and client technical personnel.
Work collaboratively with technicians and cross-functional teams to achieve project objectives.
Operational Support
Undertake additional reasonable tasks aligned with training, skills, and role requirements as requested.
Provide technical support during operational challenges and system troubleshooting.

- Electronic Engineering: 5 to 6 years

Role Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution.
Minimum of four (4) years’ verifiable professional experience in engineering project administration.
Experience in commissioning transportation systems will be advantageous.
Knowledge of applicable electronic engineering standards and codes.
Experience in the design of electrical and electronic equipment and devices.
Highly computer literate.
Technical Skills

Special Conditions
Travel within Africa and occasional international travel will be required.
