- National Diploma in Engineering
- ECSA registered as a Professional Engineering Technician
- Minimum eight (8) years’ (post first relevant tertiary qualification) experience
- Good understanding of the operation of electricity meters and related systems
- Indepth knowledge of national metering standards and Electricity By-Law
- Computer literacy and proficient on SAP
- Valid Code EB driver’s licence
- Required to work in all weather conditions and outside normal office hours during emergencies and planned overtime and standby duties
- Must be able to work in confined spaces.
- Lead a team of technical staff to deliver specialised functional services by ensuring the team is effectively resourced and equipped with the correct tools and up-to-date test equipment
- Evaluate and enhance operational effectiveness by assessing procedures and systems, mentoring staff for development, and ensuring safety policies and instructions are in place for safe task execution
- Provide specialised functional support in accordance with SANS 474: Code of Practice for Electricity Metering, to ensure accurate and compliant execution of metering duties across all meter worker classes
- Lead and guide technical staff in performing independent work on various metering systems, including CT and VT connected metering, three-phase CT and direct connected metering, and single-phase meters, aligned with their respective classifications
- Provide additional specialised support to Measurement Operations by liaising with developers and contractors on metering-related projects, finalising designs, and managing maintenance/replacement programs in accordance with SANS 474
- Support Measurement Operations (Transmission) through the installation and maintenance of measurement equipment in transmission substations, maintaining the network load controller, and reporting measurement and metering data to System Control
- Coordinate and control tasks/activities associated with controlling personnel performance, productivity and discipline
- Record and process information in the execution of duties and on the ERP systems
- Facilitate stakeholder communication by liaising with staff, management, customers, and suppliers on meter-related matters; ensure policy compliance; and stay abreast of technological advancements through seminars and product launches to share insights with technical teams
- Manage complex capital and maintenance projects by planning scope, resources, and budgets; execute and monitor milestones and risks; engage stakeholders; maintain documentation and governance via SAP PPM; and ensure effective project close-out and evaluation.
