Job Description:

Senior Accountant (Half day R 18,000 )

Fully remote from SA for an UK company

Hours: 08h00 – 12h00

Role Purpose

You support the delivery of high-quality accounting work across the client portfolio. You are responsible for reviewing work, completing more complex tasks, while escalating higher-level judgement and technical matters.

You remain hands-on in processing, reporting, and accounts work.

Key Responsibilities

Portfolio & Processing (Hands-On)

• Manage a smaller portfolio of clients alongside junior accountants.


• Perform full processing and monthly reviews for assigned clients.


• Support juniors with:
  
  
  
  • Complex reconciliations.
  
  
  • Unusual transactions.
  
  
  • Xero setup or corrections.
  
  
  
  


• Keep Karbon updated on all work performed by you.


• Review & Quality Control (With Escalation)


• Review junior work for:
  
  
  
  • Balance sheet integrity.
  
  
  • VAT accuracy.
  
  
  • Management reporting readiness.
  
  
  
  


• Raise judgement or technical matters to manager.


• Implement feedback and decisions provided.

Management Reporting

• Assist with preparing and reviewing management reports.


• Ensure reports are:
  
  
  
  • Accurate.
  
  
  • Based on reconciled data.
  
  
  
  


• Add basic commentary where appropriate.


• Escalate strategic insights or concerns to the Head of Finance.


• Ensure reports are issued by the 15th of the month.

VAT (With Oversight)

• Review VAT returns prepared by juniors.


• Identify anomalies and errors.


• Escalate unclear VAT treatments.


• Confirm VAT is ready for client approval.


• Support juniors through corrections and learning.

Annual Accounts & Tax (Supported)

• Assist with:
  
  
  
  • Working paper preparation and review.
  
  
  • Drafting of annual accounts.
  
  
  
  


• Prepare corporation tax computations in TaxCalc with review.


• Support client meetings where required.


• Escalate technical decisions and final sign-off to the Head of Finance.
