Established in 1973 with the primary function of producing parent seed and seed maize for Africa's largest seed supplier, Pidelta has grown into an extensive agricultural concern with farming enterprises across South Africa.
Pidelta is seeking a dynamic and experienced Agronomy Manager with precision farming to join our farming division. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in optimising our agricultural practices through the integration of advanced agronomic techniques and cutting-edge technology. The Agronomy Manager will be responsible for enhancing our productivity, sustainability, and overall operational efficiency.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Agronomy Practices:
- Develop and implement advanced agronomic practices for optimal soil health, crop growth, and yield.
- Plan and execute the application of weedicides, insecticides, and fungicides to ensure effective pest and disease management.
- Collaborate with suppliers to source high-quality agrochemicals and monitor their application processes.
- Monitor and evaluate the impact of agronomic interventions, making adjustments as necessary.
2. Technology Sourcing and Implementation:
- Identify and evaluate emerging precision farming technologies suitable for our operations.
- Work closely with our sister company to gather and share relevant information on precision farming practices.
- Lead the integration of selected technologies into our farming processes, ensuring smooth implementation and training.
3. Cross-Functional Support:
- Provide expertise and guidance to managers across various departments to optimize production practices.
- Collaborate with research and development teams to incorporate scientific advancements into practical farming strategies.
- Conduct training sessions and workshops to enhance the understanding of precision agronomy among team members.
4. Administration:
- Submit reports monthly on projects.
- Presentations to higher management when required.
- Submit purchase orders and any other administrative requirements timeously.

Education:
- Min: B.Sc (Agric)
- Ideal: M.Sc (Agric)
Legal Requirements:
- Min: Driver’s License
Training:
- Min: On the job training, Computer Skilled on Word & Excel, Product Knowledge.
- Ideal: Presentation Skills, Above average Excel Skills & Word Skills. B.I Tools and Statistics.
Hazard & Safety Requirements:
- Min: Occupational Health & Safety
Experience:
- Similar position for 5 years.
