SoccerBeat is seeking a digitally fluent Junior Community Manager to lead real-time audience interaction, moderation, and community growth across our social platforms. This role is responsible for managing comments, fostering healthy fan conversations, and protecting the SoccerBeat brand across Facebook, Instagram, X and YouTube (shows and shorts).
The ideal candidate understands the South African football landscape and culture, thrives in a fast-paced digital environment, and knows how to balance engagement with moderation.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Community Engagement
Manage and respond to comments and messages across Facebook, Instagram, YouTube shows, YouTube Shorts, and X.
Spark and sustain meaningful conversations with fans.
Identify trending topics, fan sentiment, and emerging narratives.
Escalate key audience insights to the editorial and content teams.
Moderation
Enforce SoccerBeat's community guidelines to maintain a respectful, inclusive, and safe online environment.
Monitor for spam, abuse, hate speech and misinformation.
Platform Management
Support the team during YouTube shows and real-time events (matches, breaking news).
Assist with scheduling and publishing of content.
Collaborate with the editorial team members relating to engagement strategy and content goals.
Candidate Requirements
Experience
1–2 years' experience in social media management, community management, or digital publishing.
Strong understanding of Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and X, as well as social media tools.
Deep interest in South African football culture, leagues, and fan dynamics.
Good written communication skills with the ability to match brand tone.
Ability to remain calm, objective, and professional in high-pressure or hostile online environments.
Skills
Familiarity with social media management tools (e.g., Meta Business Suite, YouTube Studio, and the like).
Strong organisational and time-management skills.
Comfortable working evenings and weekends during live shows and match days.
Knowledge of South African football, and be familiar with leagues and players.
Basic understanding of AI tools.
Desirable
Experience working in sports media, digital publishing, or broadcast environments.
Basic analytics and reporting experience.
Understanding of online safety; as well as digital and online professionalism.
Ability to interpret fan sentiment and turn insights into actionable content or editorial feedback.
