Salary:
It is a basic plus sales commission and performance bonuses. The basic is R14,000.00. Sales commissions structure is uncapped and is supplied on request.
Reports To:
Field Sales Representative reports to the Sales Manager.
Job Overview:
Palanga Publishing & Training Academy specializes in Maths education and runs My Maths Buddy program for teachers and learners in many schools across South Africa.
Our main line of business is to sell and deliver My Maths Buddy programs in schools. We have a big network of schools and bookstores. Our plan is to reinforce sales through marketing our books to schools and getting them to place our books onto their recommended/prescribed lists for their parents to buy our books in bookstores like PNA, etc.
You will be working with schools and bookstores.
Your main functions as the Field Sales Representative would then be:
- Promote our books to schools and make them popular amongst their teachers.
- Build a network of schools and get them to include the My Maths Buddy dictionary onto their recommended/prescribed list for parents to purchase.
- Achieve monthly targets on number of recommended/prescribed lists as well as direct sales of books.
- Work with schools on promoting the books to parents through parents’ evenings and so on making books popular amongst parents.
- Building relationships with the bookstores that will supply them with our books and make sure that schools place their orders with them.
- Work with the book outlets who have their own network of schools and help to promote books to the schools, so they buy the stock from those book outlets
- Work with the network of book outlets that we have such as PNAs, Van Schaik, individual stores, etc. to create customer relationships, promote the books to them to purchase, train their staff on the benefits of our products, run games with the stores with the purpose of stocking up on the company’s products.
- Create and manage a network of agents who will be selling books to their customers on ongoing basis.
- Keeping admin in on all the stores (on the computer and files) and producing performance reports
- Implementing strategies to keep stock moving through the book outlets to the end customer so they continue to order more stock which will then create a stream of income for the company.
- Visting stores and training and activating the store staff to make sure that they promote our book as the number 1 solution for Maths to their customers.
- Attending staff training to continue to enhance your skills for your position and learn about the company’s management systems that would enhance your personal performance on post.
Schedule:
Office hours are from 8:00 am till 16:30 pm.
Conditions of employment:
We will offer 3 months fixed contract. Every month a person will have a target to achieve, and we will do performance evaluation and an interview at the end of each month. If a candidate is way off their targets the contract will not be renewed after 3 months. Only when a person shows he or she can produce and achieve the targets set within the 3 months of employment, will this person be given a permanent position in the company. Training will be provided.

Candidate Requirements
Experience & Qualifications:
1. You must have a reliable vehicle and driver’s license so that you can go around and visit schools and different book outlets.
2. Prior experience of working as a Sales Rep in publishing industry selling and marketing to schools for minimally 2 years is a must.
3. You must be a matric graduate.
4. You must be located within 30-40 minutes radius from the office maximum. Our address is 89 Studio Office Park, 5 Concourse Crescent, Lonehill. It is not a remote position you will need to work from the office.

4. Persuasion and Negotiation: Using empathy, patience, and persuasive techniques to overcome objections and guide customers toward a purchase decision.

6. Product Knowledge: An in-depth understanding of the products or services being offered to explain benefits clearly and answer questions accurately.
Ability and willingness to learn: You need to be able and willing to learn about products/services, how to promote and sell these to clients, etc.
