The GIZ Country Office in Hatfield, Pretoria supports technical projects and partners across South Africa, Lesotho and Eswatini and provides regional procurement and contracting services that enable effective programme delivery across the portfolio.

What You Need to Succeed
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Arts degree in Purchasing and Supply, Supply Chain Management or Business Administration
Recognised commercial diploma in business administration or a similar qualification
Professional Experience
Minimum 5 years professional experience in a comparable position
Excellent knowledge of procurement procedures
In this role you will lead and manage procurement and contracting processes in line with GIZ rules, regulations and guidelines. You will support projects and programmes across South Africa, Lesotho and Eswatini by ensuring timely, compliant and high-quality procurement, logistics and contracting services.
Responsibilities
- Procure goods, materials and equipment locally, regionally and internationally
- Issue invitations to tender and process orders in line with GIZ rules and regulations
- Arrange import and export of goods through customs
- Manage shipments to final end-user destinations
- Ensure procurement compliance with the German Supply Chain Diligence Act (LkSG)
- Monitor and maintain the business partner database and conduct market scouting
- Accept and inspect goods for quality assurance and manage defective goods processes
- Ensure correct inbound logistics, inspections, defect reporting and complaint resolution
- Manage importation processes including Incoterms, customs clearance and collection
- Manage end-to-end P2P processes in SAP
- Support asset registry and inventory management in coordination with the Finance Unit
- Ensure end users have visibility to track and trace shipments
Tasks
- Conduct market intelligence to ensure best quality offerings at the best price
- Organise and file documents in line with GIZ records management guidelines
- Maintain daily updates of filing systems including SharePoint and DMS
- Support preparation and shipping of boxes to Head Office for archiving
- Proactively inform projects and programmes of procurement status and delays
- Advise requestors and colleagues on complex procurement cases
- Undertake job-related training as required in agreement with management
- Perform additional administrative tasks as requested by the Head of Finance and Administration and the Head of Procurement and Contracting
Other Knowledge and Competencies
- Very good working knowledge of Information and Communication Technologies including Microsoft
- Office, MS Teams and Systems, Applications and Products (SAP)
- Very good knowledge of the English language. Knowledge of German is an added advantage
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to work independently and show initiative
- Good interpersonal, negotiation and time management skills
- Very good verbal and written communication skills and experience using various media
- Proven intercultural communication competence with a professional and cooperative working style
Willingness to continuously scale up skills in line with role requirements
