An international organization is seeking an Accounts Receivable Specialist to join their team in Port Elizabeth. This role is crucial for managing the financial health of the business by overseeing invoicing, payment processing, and proactive collections. The ideal candidate is a problem-solver who can navigate complex reconciliations while ensuring timely payments and accurate financial records.

Key Responsibilities

Billing & Payment Processing

• Generate and distribute accurate invoices in accordance with strict billing schedules.

• Ensure all incoming payments are accurately applied to customer accounts based on remittances.

• Verify supporting documentation for all invoices prior to processing.

Collections & Relationship Management

• Implement effective collection strategies to minimize outstanding receivables and reduce delinquency.

• Act as the primary point of contact for customer inquiries regarding discrepancies.

• Conduct collection calls and maintain professional communication to secure overdue payments.

• Strengthen client relationships by resolving payment issues promptly and professionally.

Reporting & Compliance

• Reconcile the accounts receivable ledger to ensure all payments are properly posted.

• Prepare regular status reports, including aging analysis and collection effectiveness metrics.

• Collaborate with GL accountants and auditors to provide necessary data and support.

• Identify and recommend process improvements to increase efficiency within the AR function.

   

Minimum Requirements

Experience & Qualifications:

•  Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.

• Proven experience in accounts receivable, billing, or collections.

• Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and practices.

   

Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.

• Ability to work with complex, abstract processes and logical solutions.

• Fluency in English (written and verbal) is essential; French language skills are a significant advantage
