KAMOA COPPER SA is looking for a Senior Superintendent II, Exploration & Resource Geology

The Kamoa Copper Mine is a joint venture between Ivanhoe Mines (39.6%), Zijin Mining Group (39.6%), Crystal River Global Limited (0.8%) and the Government of the Democratic Republic of Congo (20%). It's a very large, near-surface, flat-lying, stratiform copper deposit with adjacent prospective exploration areas within the Central African Copperbelt, at approximately 25 kilometres west of the town of Kolwezi and about 270 kilometres west of the provincial capital of Lubumbashi.

To manage and coordinate the KCSA Mineral Resource and Exploration department across all sites and provide input into mining operations by using best practice principles and processes. The incumbent leads a team of specialists, oversees exploration, evaluation, and management of geological resources, ensuring that mineral resources are accurately quantified and reported. In addition, this role identifies and mitigates geological risks associated with mining operations, such as unexpected geological conditions or resource depletion.

You will have the following:

  • Must have a Master Degree in Geology
  • Must have at least10- 15 years’ experience in Exploration, resource estimation and Mining Geology
  • Must have 5 years in a managerial position
  • Must have with experience working in surface, underground and processing mining environment.
  • Must have at least 5 years’ experience working as a mineral resource QP.
  • Must have mining experience, with exposure to working in African countries considered highly advantageous.
  • Proficiency in business English is mandatory. Working knowledge of French will be considered highly advantageous.

  • Reporting and presentation

  • Manage and coordinate a world class Geology function for KCSA
  • Implement effective and efficient Geology structures, policies, plans and governance structures
  • Plan and manage drilling
  • New projects (Greenfields and Brownfields)
  • Manage and oversee Contractors/Consultants and service providers
  • Drive effective problem solving and continuous improvement
  • Function as a Geology subject matter expert
  • Stakeholder Communication
  • Stakeholder management- relationships with stakeholders to enable optimisation of the business value chain
  • People: Manage a department that builds people, values difference and creates an inclusive work environment
  • Finance - Forecast, secure and manage the budget as per Delegation of Authority Matrix
  • Manage transformation in terms of people, automation / digitisation and sustainability and provide timely and robust change management to underpin initiatives
