The Warehouse Branch Manager is responsible for the overall management, performance, and compliance of the KwaZulu-Natal warehouse operations within a medical device environment. This role ensures the efficient handling of inventory, loan sets, logistics, and staff management to support uninterrupted supply of medical devices to hospitals and healthcare partners.
The Branch Manager is accountable for driving operational excellence, maintaining regulatory and quality compliance, improving cost efficiency, and leading a high-performing team in alignment with company objectives, service-level expectations, and industry regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory & Warehouse Operations
Assume full accountability for warehouse operations, including inventory control, loan sets, inbound and outbound logistics, and emergency case support.
Ensure accurate tracking and control of orthopaedic stock, surgical sets, serial numbers, batch numbers, and expiry dates.
Oversee the preparation, dispatch, return, and reconciliation of cases and trays in coordination with Inventory and Loan Set Coordinators.
Monitor stock levels, usage trends, emergency requests, and demand forecasts to prevent shortages or overstocking.
Conduct and lead regular cycle counts, stock audits, and reconciliations, ensuring alignment between physical stock and system records.
Identify inventory discrepancies, investigate root causes, and implement corrective and preventative actions.
Staff Supervision, Leadership & Training
Lead, manage, mentor, and develop warehouse and inventory personnel.
Plan and manage staff schedules, shifts, daily operations, and handovers to ensure continuity of service.
Conduct performance reviews and support performance management initiatives in collaboration with senior management.
Ensure all staff receive ongoing training on SOPs, quality standards, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.
Manage disciplinary and performance-related matters in consultation with Human Resources.
Quality, Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure full compliance with Quality Management Systems (QMS), ISO standards, health and safety regulations, and medical device regulatory requirements.
Oversee the cleaning, inspection, checking, and validation of sets returned from hospitals to ensure readiness for redeployment.
Maintain accurate documentation, full traceability, and audit readiness at all times.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, quality standards, and risk mitigation.
Operations, Fleet & Stakeholder Management
Maintain a clean, organized, secure, and compliant warehouse environment.
Oversee warehouse infrastructure, building maintenance, and operational facilities.
Manage company vehicles, including servicing, repairs, cleanliness, fuel usage, tracking, and record-keeping.
Ensure all warehouse assets and equipment are well maintained and fit for purpose.
Prepare and submit regular operational, inventory, and compliance reports to management.
Communicate proactively with regional management, sales teams, and internal stakeholders to support service delivery.
Liaise with internal departments to resolve operational, inventory, or service-related challenges.
Support strategic initiatives and branch-level operational planning.
Perform additional duties related to the role as required.

Candidate Requirements
Key RequirementsQualifications & Experience
Relevant qualification in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related tertiary discipline.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in warehouse or supply chain operations, preferably within medical devices, healthcare, or a related regulated industry.
Proven management or supervisory experience within a warehouse, logistics, or similar operational environment.
Practical experience in inventory control, stock management, and warehouse operations; experience with loan sets, consignment stock, or case-based logistics will be highly advantageous.
Experience using inventory management systems (ERP/WMS); experience with Pastel is an added advantage.
Understanding of ISO standards, Quality Management Systems (QMS), health and safety, and regulatory compliance is advantageous.
Advanced computer literacy in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Experience in fleet management.
Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
