A leading player in the heavy engineering and gas sector is seeking a highly skilled Site Supervisor to oversee a critical shutdown project. This is a short-term, high-impact contract role starting immediately.

Role Overview

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing site operations, ensuring safety protocols are strictly followed, and maintaining the project timeline for the duration of the shutdown.

• Location: South Africa

• Duration: ASAP – 31 March 2026

• Industry: Engineering / Manufacturing

Key Responsibilities

• Project Execution: Oversee daily operations on-site to ensure the shutdown remains on schedule and within technical specifications.

• Team Leadership: Supervise multi-disciplinary teams and subcontractors, ensuring high productivity and quality workmanship.

• Safety & Compliance: Enforce rigorous health and safety (HSE) standards to maintain a zero-incident environment.

• Resource Management: Coordinate tools, materials, and equipment to ensure seamless workflow throughout the shutdown period.

• Reporting: Provide regular progress updates to project management, identifying and resolving any bottlenecks or technical challenges immediately.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must possess one of the following backgrounds along with proven supervisory experience:

• Trade Qualification: Red Seal Boilermaker or a Mechanical trade background. OR

• Academic Qualification: Diploma or Degree in Engineering or Construction Management.

• Experience: Previous experience supervising shutdowns or large-scale industrial maintenance projects is essential within oil & Gas, Petrochemical or Refinery

• Skills: Strong leadership, excellent communication, and a deep understanding of safety and quality standards in high-pressure environments.
