To coordinate, control, and execute multimodal export shipments (air, sea, and road) from order receipt to final delivery, ensuring compliance with international trade regulations, client requirements, carrier procedures, and internal service standards.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Control
Manage end-to-end export shipments across airfreight, seafreight (FCL/LCL), and road freight
Receive, verify, and process export instructions from clients
Book cargo with airlines, shipping lines, hauliers, and agents
Coordinate cargo collection, consolidation, packing, and delivery to ports/airports
Monitor cargo movements and proactively manage delays or exceptions
Liaise with overseas agents to ensure smooth destination handling
Documentation & Compliance
Prepare and verify export documentation, including but not limited to:
Commercial Invoices
Packing Lists
Air Waybills / Bills of Lading
Certificates of Origin
Dangerous Goods Declarations (where applicable)
Ensure compliance with customs, airline, shipping line, and international trade regulations
Confirm cargo classification, HS codes, Incoterms, and routing instructions
Ensure Dangerous Goods shipments are handled in line with IATA / IMDG regulations
Customer & Agent Liaison
Maintain professional communication with clients, carriers, and agents
Provide shipment status updates and resolve queries timeously
Manage service expectations and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction
Escalate operational risks or service failures to management when required
Financial & Administrative Duties
Ensure accurate costings and rate confirmations prior to shipment execution
Capture shipment data accurately on the forwarding system
Check supplier invoices for accuracy and query discrepancies
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
On-time shipment execution
Accuracy of export documentation
Customer satisfaction and communication standards
Compliance with regulatory and company procedures
File profitability and cost control

Candidate Requirements
Minimum RequirementsQualifications
Matric (essential)
Freight forwarding or logistics qualification (advantageous)
Dangerous Goods certification (advantageous)
Experience
Minimum 2–5 years’ experience in export freight forwarding
Proven experience handling multimodal exports (air, sea, and road)
Experience working with international agents and carriers
Skills & Competencies
Strong understanding of export processes and Incoterms
Excellent organizational and time-management skills
High attention to detail and accuracy
Strong problem-solving ability under pressure
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage multiple shipments simultaneously
Proficiency in freight forwarding systems and MS Office
