Role Purpose
The Short-Term Claims Consultant is responsible for the efficient and accurate processing of short-term insurance claims while delivering a high standard of client service. The role involves managing claims end-to-end, ensuring compliance with regulatory and company requirements, and maintaining client trust through professional and empathetic engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Claims Processing
• Manage the end-to-end claims process, including registration, assessment, validation, and settlement.
• Ensure claims are processed within agreed service level agreements (SLAs) and in line with regulatory requirements.
• Accurately capture and update claims information on the claims management system.
Client Service
• Communicate with clients to obtain required information, explain claims procedures, and provide regular updates.
• Address client queries and concerns professionally and empathetically to ensure a positive client experience.
• Escalate complex or disputed claims to the relevant Team Leader when required.
Investigation & Assessment
• Assess claim validity through document review, investigation, and liaison with service providers.
• Identify potential fraudulent claims and report suspicious activity in accordance with internal procedures.
• Ensure accurate assessment of damages and costs in collaboration with assessors and other specialists.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
• Liaise with service providers such as assessors, repairers, and other third parties to facilitate claims resolution.
• Work closely with team members and management to resolve challenges and improve claims processes.
Compliance & Reporting
• Ensure all claims handling adheres to company policies, industry regulations, and Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) principles.
• Prepare and submit claims-related reports as required.

Qualifications
• Matric Certificate.
• RE5 qualification.
Experience
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in short-term insurance (building and contents) claims processing or a related role.
• Experience within the insurance or financial services industry is essential.
Skills & Competencies
• Strong knowledge of non-motor short-term insurance products and claims processes.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and claims management systems.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Professionalism, integrity, and strong customer focus.
