Position Details
Job Title: Maintenance Manager
Location: Mossel Bay
Salary: R15 000 per month
Start Date: As soon as possible
Working Hours: Monday to Saturday, 07:00 – 15:00/16:00 (minimum 195 hours per month). Must be available for emergency situations outside working hours.
More About the Role
The candidate will be responsible for leading the maintenance department, including staff reporting to them. The role requires independent work, daily reporting to the GM via email, and the ability to adapt quickly to changing situations. The successful candidate must enjoy challenges, be open to learning through experience, and take initiative when faced with urgent situations.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the maintenance department and supervise staff reporting to you.
Plan and execute preventative and daily maintenance.
General building and facility maintenance (construction, repairs, painting, carpentry).
Basic plumbing (leaks, taps, toilets, drainage).
Basic electrical maintenance (lighting, plugs, fault-finding – non-industrial).
Mechanical aptitude for doors, fittings, moving parts, and fixtures.
Daily reporting back to GM via email.
Maintenance of outdoor areas (walkways, decks, railings, beachfront exposure).
Attention to detail and pride in presentation, as this is a guest-facing role.
Ability to quickly adapt to changes and handle multiple tasks per day.
Preventative and routine inspections.
Understanding of health and safety standards in public accommodation areas.
Experience in a hospitality, lodge, hotel, or guesthouse environment is beneficial.
Minimum Requirements
Matric.
Minimum of 3 years relevant experience in maintenance and facility management.
Own tools are required.
Own reliable transport and valid driver’s license.
Must be available to respond to emergency call-outs when required.
Previous team leader experience is a strong advantage.
Able to take instruction and leadership from management.
Strong team player with the ability to lead when required.
Enjoys challenges and is open to gaining experience and learning on the job.

Hoofverantwoordelikhede
Lei die onderhoudsafdeling en hou toesig oor personeel wat aan jou rapporteer.
Beplan en voer voorkomende en daaglikse onderhoud uit.
Algemene gebou- en fasiliteitsonderhoud (konstruksie, herstelwerk, skilderwerk, timmerwerk).
Basiese loodgieterswerk (lekke, krane, toilette, dreinering).
Basiese elektriese onderhoud (beligting, proppe, foutopsporing – nie-industriële).
Meganiese vaardigheid vir deure, fittings, bewegende dele en toebehore.
Daaglikse verslagdoening aan die GM per e-pos.
Onderhoud van buitelug areas (looproetes, dekke, relings, strandfront blootstelling).
Aandag aan detail en trots op aanbieding, aangesien dit ’n gaste-gesig rol is.
Vermoë om vinnig aan te pas en verskeie take per dag te hanteer.
Uitvoer van voorkomende en roetine-inspeksies.
Begrip van gesondheid- en veiligheidsstandaarde in openbare akkommodasie-areas.
Ondervinding in ’n lodge, hotel of gastehuis-omgewing is voordelig.
Minimum Vereistes
Matriek.
Minimum van 3 jaar relevante ondervinding in onderhoud en fasiliteitsbestuur.
Moet oor eie gereedskap beskik.
Eie betroubare vervoer en geldige bestuurslisensie is ’n vereiste.
Moet beskikbaar wees vir noodoproepe indien nodig.
Vorige spanleier-ervaring is ’n groot voordeel.
Moet leiding kan neem én leiding kan aanvaar.
Sterk span speler met die vermoë om ander te lei.
Hou van uitdagings en is oop om deur ervaring te leer.
