The Unit Manager – Theatre and Trauma Trained is responsible for the overall management and leadership of the operating theatre and trauma unit. This includes ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care, compliance with healthcare standards, and effective coordination of staff and resources.

• Leadership & Management
• Lead and supervise theatre and trauma nursing teams.
• Ensure optimal staff allocation, rostering, and performance management.
• Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
• Clinical Oversight
• Maintain high standards of perioperative and trauma care.
• Ensure adherence to infection control, patient safety, and clinical protocols.
• Oversee emergency preparedness and trauma response procedures.
• Operational Efficiency
• Manage theatre schedules, equipment, and consumables.
• Monitor budgets, cost control, and resource utilization.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies and national healthcare regulations.
• Quality Assurance
• Uphold patient rights and ethical standards.
• Conduct audits, risk assessments, and implement corrective actions.
• Drive continuous professional development and training initiatives

Candidate Requirements

📋 Qualifications & Experience
• Registered Nurse (RN) with valid registration at the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
• Post-basic qualification in Operating Theatre Nursing.
• Trauma training and certification (e.g., ATLS, TNCC, or equivalent).
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in theatre nursing, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
