PURPOSE OF ROLE
The Community Liaison Officer will implement the stakeholder engagement activities and execute external community campaigns activities.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
Participate and contribute to a safe and healthy work environment where workers, external service providers/contractors can deliver their outputs within a controlled risk environment. Ensuring that the project activities are carried out without any disruptions.
- Coordinate public relations campaigns and Stakeholder events.
- Engage with relevant stakeholders in line with Community Engagement Plans and reinforce a positive representation of Lesedi to the Community.
- Continuously provide feedback to the Mine on community concerns and priorities with the view to revise intervention strategies where necessary.
- Schedule outreach meetings with local community members to discover their issues and concerns.
- Collate, analyse and write reports to share insights with Lesedi, conduct further research and organize follow-up meetings to address outstanding concerns with community leaders / members, clients, and employees.
- Liaise with all stakeholders and be the first point of contact to build an effective communication structure, enhancing a harmonious internal and external relationships by ensuring the quality-of-service delivery achieve set goals.
- Promptly resolve incidents and other events
- Support the current SD&L programmes to educate the community members about the projects and to support active community participation
QUALIFICATION
- Grade 12
- National Diploma in Public Administration or equivalent
- Valid South African Driver’s license
- Bachelors’ Degree will be advantageous
EXPERIENCE
- 3+ years’ experience in a community outreach environment, community-based education activities with a good understanding of local communities, their norms and culture
- Computer literacy in MS Office

- Excellent communication skills,
- Excellent Interpersonal skills
- Ability to prioritize work on own initiative
- Computer Literacy in MS Office.
- Ability to work under pressure
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Ability to quickly understand situations and address them appropriately and in a manner that is accepted by community members or any stakeholder
NB: preference will be given to people residing in Ward 29 &32 (greater Atlantis and surrounding areas)
