Our client in the Bulk Materials Handling industry is seeking a Technical Buyer with 4- 5 years of experience in procurement of technical products with a National Diploma in Supply Chain, Procurement, Industrial Engineering or Mechanical Engineering, or an associated technical degree/Diploma.

Job Title: Technical Buyer (Mechanical Engineering)
Geographical area: Roodepoort, Gauteng

The successful incumbent will be responsible for:

Obtaining quotes during tendering and execution of the project.
Negotiating better prices with suppliers.
Sourcing of new suppliers and presenting to management.
Generating and timeously updating of the mini procurement schedule.
Timeously following up on outstanding suppliers’ orders.
Making sure items are delivered on time in line with project requirements.
Making sure items are ordered within budget.
Making sure right items are ordered in line with specifications.
Updating of project engineers and managers of potential delays as well as proposing mitigation plans.
Assisting with rating of suppliers.
Attending project meetings to provide feedback on procurement.
Generating of monthly report on supplier challenges as well as making suggestions for improvement.
Ordering for sister companies (Bulkmatic, Rotatech, ICTech and Techmatic Engineering) when required.
Assisting with verifying supplies for dispatch.
Assist with crafting when required.
Assist with collection of items from suppliers.

Minimum qualifications and experience:

Matric
Relevant Diploma in Supply Chain, Procurement, Industrial Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
4-5 years’ experience in buying in engineering industry
