We are seeking an experienced and highly knowledgeable Chief Health & Safety Officer to lead and enforce Mine Health and Safety compliance across open cast mining operations. The successful candidate will ensure full adherence to MHSA requirements, drive a strong safety culture, and act as the primary liaison with regulatory authorities.Key ResponsibilitiesEnforce compliance with the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA) and all site safety proceduresConduct risk assessments, workplace inspections, and safety auditsInvestigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses and compile detailed reportsMaintain all statutory safety records and documentationLiaise with the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy (DMRE)Provide guidance, coaching, and support on health and safety matters across site operationsEnsure continuous improvement of safety standards and systems

Minimum requirements:

Grade 12 (Matric)
SAMTRAC / COMSOC / NEBOSH certification (essential)
SACPCMP registration (or eligible/registrable)
Minimum 5 years’ mining health & safety experience, with open cast mining essential
In-depth knowledge of Mine Health and Safety legislation
Valid driver’s license
