We’re looking for a Cabling Technician to join our Operations – Technical team in Durban. This role is perfect for someone who thrives on precision, problem-solving, and delivering quality work in dynamic environments.

📍 Location: Durban
🕒 Hours: Monday to Friday, 08h00 – 17h00 (with occasional overtime and travel)
📊 Reporting To: Cabling Manager

💼 Purpose

As a Cabling Technician, you will perform all duties to the highest standard, ensuring installations and repairs meet company and industry standards. Professionalism, neatness, and courteous conduct are essential, along with strict adherence to company policies and safety procedures.

🔍 Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Install and terminate Cat5e, Cat6, and electrical cabling.
• Build cable channel routes for cables.
• Label and test new and existing network cabling.
• Troubleshoot connectivity issues and resolve cable-related faults.
• Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
• Maintain accurate records of installations and repairs.
• Control, monitor, and keep records of stock taken and used.
• Ensure all work complies with relevant safety and industry standards.
• Identify and escalate priority issues per client specifications.
• Communicate progress and issues to the Cabling Manager.
• Perform additional ad hoc duties as required by the business.

🧠 Requirements

✔️ Proven experience as a cabling technician or similar role (advantageous).
✔️ Strong understanding of structured cabling systems.
✔️ Ability to use cable testers, punch-down tools, and other relevant equipment.
✔️ Physical ability to climb ladders, work in tight spaces, and lift equipment.
✔️ Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
✔️ Ability to work overtime and travel out of town when required.
✔️ Strong verbal and written communication skills.
✔️ Ability to work as part of a team and manage workload independently.
✔️ Ability to follow instructions accurately.
