Job Purpose:The Wildlife Manager is responsible for the comprehensive care, management, and conservation of wildlife across Private Game Reserve, which includes the free- roaming reserve, breeding camps, and the predator park. This role ensures the health and welfare of all animals, promotes ecological integrity, and supports conservation ethics. The Wildlife Manager collaborates with conservation bodies, veterinarians, internal departments, and guests to maintain Lodge high standards as a leading conservation and eco-tourism destination.Key Responsibilities: Wildlife Monitoring s ConservationConduct routine game counts and ecological impactMonitor animal populations, movements, and general ecosystemImplement conservation strategies aligned with the reserve’s carryingControl and manage veld conditions and invasive plant2. Animal Health s WelfareCoordinate veterinary care and manage wildlife health across allMonitor nutritional needs, behavioural health, and overall welfare ofRespond rapidly to medical emergencies or mortality3. Breeding Camp ManagementOversee day-to-day operations within breedingMaintain detailed records of births, treatments, movements, andEnsure ethical and legal compliance in breedingManage animal introductions, relocations, and transactions in collaboration with relevantDevelop and implement a structured breeding program aimed at genetic improvement and herdManage the strategic purchase of new bulls to enhance genetic diversity and breedingOversee the sale of surplus or selected animals in accordance with the breeding program and market demand. 4. - National Diploma or Degree in Nature Conservation, Wildlife Management, or related
- Minimum 5 years of experience, including hands-on predator and breeding animal
- Valid SA Driver’s License (Code B or higher).
- Firearm competency (advantageous).
- Proven experience with species such as Roan, Sable, Buffalo, Zebra, and
- Proficient in MS Office and wildlife data
- Comprehensive knowledge of South African wildlife and
- Skilled in animal tracking, monitoring, and
- Strong leadership and staff management
- Effective communication (written and verbal).
- High ethical standards and commitment to wildlife
- Primarily outdoor fieldwork with exposure to
- Irregular hours, including weekends and
- Physically demanding; requires excellent bush skills and hands-on
- Hands-on experience in wildlife management and conservation operations
