Wintel & Virtualisation EngineerRole PurposeThe Wintel & Virtualisation Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, support, and optimisation of Windows-based server environments and virtualisation platforms. The role ensures high availability, performance, security, and scalability of infrastructure systems.

Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure Management

• Install, configure, maintain, and support Windows Server environments
• Manage Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and file services
• Perform patching, upgrades, and system hardening
• Monitor server performance and capacity planning

Virtualisation

• Deploy and manage virtual environments (VMware, Hyper-V, Nutanix, etc.)
• Provision virtual machines and manage resource allocation
• Implement high availability, clustering, and disaster recovery solutions
• Perform backups, restores, and snapshot management

Security & Compliance

• Apply security best practices and hardening standards
• Manage user access, permissions, and policies
• Support audits and compliance requirements

Automation & Optimisation

• Develop scripts (PowerShell) to automate tasks
• Improve system performance and reliability
• Identify opportunities for cost and resource optimisation

Troubleshooting & Support

• Provide 2nd/3rd line support
• Diagnose and resolve server and virtualisation issues
• Root cause analysis and documentation
• Participate in on-call rotation when required

Project & Documentation

• Participate in infrastructure projects and upgrades
• Maintain system documentation and diagrams
• Collaborate with network, security, and cloud teams
