Role Purpose:
To maintain, service, diagnose, and repair heavy construction machinery and equipment, ensuring optimal performance, minimal downtime, and compliance with safety standards.
The incumbent will support construction operations by performing preventative maintenance and attending to breakdowns on-site when required.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on heavy construction equipment (e.g., excavators, bulldozers, graders, loaders, dump trucks, cranes).
Conduct routine servicing and preventative maintenance according to OEM specifications.
Troubleshoot breakdowns and carry out emergency repairs efficiently, both in the workshop and on-site.
Inspect equipment to identify potential mechanical issues and recommend corrective actions.
Maintain accurate service records, job cards, and reports.
Ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations.
Assist with equipment upgrades, modifications, and testing when required.
Operate workshop tools, diagnostic equipment, and lifting gear safely and correctly.
Provide technical support and guidance to apprentices or junior mechanics.

Candidate Requirements
Minimum Requirements:Red Seal Trade Test Certificate: Heavy Equipment Mechanic / Earthmoving Equipment Mechanic.
Minimum of 5 years post-trade experience in repairing and maintaining heavy construction equipment.
Strong knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
Valid driver’s license (Code 08/10; Code 14 advantageous).
Ability to interpret technical manuals, schematics, and drawings.
Computer literacy for diagnostics and reporting (advantageous).
Willingness to work overtime, shifts, and attend breakdowns at remote sites.
