KAMOA COPPER SA is looking for a Senior Superintendent I, Ventilation Engineer (Chief Ventilation Officer)

The Kamoa Copper Mine is a joint venture between Ivanhoe Mines (39.6%), Zijin Mining Group (39.6%), Crystal River Global Limited (0.8%) and the Government of the Democratic Republic of Congo (20%). It's a very large, near-surface, flat-lying, stratiform copper deposit with adjacent prospective exploration areas within the Central African Copperbelt, at approximately 25 kilometres west of the town of Kolwezi and about 270 kilometres west of the provincial capital of Lubumbashi.

To establish and manage a world-class, Ventilation Engineering function. This role is accountable for the implementation, management and monitoring of the Occupational Environment domain for the Business Unit by ensuring participation in the planning of the mine and the establishment of safe work programmes. The incumbent manages a team and the scope of this role spans across mining operations

You will have the following:

• Must have a diploma / degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent
• Must have an Advanced Certificate in Mine Environmental Control
• Must have at least 15 years of ventilation engineering in an underground mining environment
• Must have at least10 years managerial experience
• Proficiency in business English is mandatory. Knowledge of French and Swahili will be considered highly advantageous.

Your Key Performance Activities will include but not limited to:

• Establish, coordinate and manage a world class Ventilation Engineering department
• Coordinate the design, establishment and embed effective and efficient integrated Ventilation Engineering structures, policies, plans and governance structures
• Co-ordinate the design, implementation and oversight of a ventilation system for the mining operations
• Co-ordinate the Management of Contractors and service providers
• Co-ordinate and drive effective problem solving and continuous improvement
• Stakeholder management:Ensure optimised customer experience and service throughout the value chain
• People: Build and maintain a capable, high performing team
• Finance: Ensure financial integrity of area of responsibility
• Drive Transformation and enable seamless Change and Cultural integration
