Duties and Responsibilities Operational ManagementOversee daily operations of all lodge departments: front office, housekeeping, food & beverage, kitchen, maintenance, guiding, and guest activities.Ensure smooth coordination between departments for seamless guestManage budgets, financial controls, stock, and cost controlEnsure compliance with lodge policies, legal requirements, and health & safetyGuest ExperienceUphold and deliver exceptional 5-star guest service andHandle guest feedback, complaints, and special requestsCreate unique, memorable experiences that reflect the lodge’s brand andEngage with guests personally to build relationships and ensureStaff Leadership & HRLead, train, mentor, and motivate a multiculturalManage staff rosters, performance appraisals, and disciplinaryDrive service excellence through continuous training andFoster a positive team culture aligned with luxury hospitalityAdministration & ReportingPrepare operational and financial reports for lodge owners/HeadMonitor revenue, expenses, occupancy, and guest satisfactionImplement efficient systems for reservations, stock control, andMaintain supplier relationships and negotiate bestProperty & Environment ManagementOversee maintenance of lodge facilities, vehicles, andEnsure sustainability practices (energy, water, waste management).Work with the guiding/conservation team to integrate wildlife experiences with responsible eco-tourism practices.
Qualifications and Experience
- Education:
- Diploma/Degree in Hospitality Management, Tourism, or related
- Additional training in Business Management or F&B
· Experience:
- Minimum 5–7 years lodge/hotel management experience, with at least 3 years in a senior role at a 5-star game lodge.
- Strong track record in luxury guest service, operations, and staff
- Experience managing multicultural teams in a remote
· Skills & Attributes:
- Strong financial and administrative management
- Excellent interpersonal and communication
- Guest-centric mindset with strong problem-solving
- Ability to work under pressure and in a remote, rural
- Computer literate (MS Office, reservations systems such as Opera, Panstrat, or similar).
- Hands-on, proactive, and
- Knowledge of Zulu culture and fluency in English (Zulu/Afrikaans advantageous).
· Other Requirements:
- Driver’s license and ability to operate lodge
- Willingness to live on-site in Mkuze
- Passion for wildlife, conservation, and authentic safari
