Role Overview
We’re looking for a Mid Designer to join the Weaver FinTech creative team — a designer who’s as comfortable pushing pixels as they are pushing boundaries. This role sits within our Brand and Creative function and reports directly to the Head of Brand and Creative. You’ll work across both PayJustNow and FinChoice, helping shape how our brands connect with millions of South Africans through campaigns, communications, and content that drive real engagement and impact.
As we support our customer through her financial journey — from shopping and payments to lending, insurance, and now connectivity — you’ll play a key role in helping her navigate a more connected life. With the upcoming launch of our MVNO, offering affordable airtime and data solutions, we’re expanding the Weaver ecosystem to makeeveryday living simpler, smarter, and more integrated. You’ll help bring these propositions
to life across every channel, designing creative that connects emotional storytelling with practical value.
You’ll collaborate closely with marketing planners, product teams, and CRM specialists to translate strategy and insight into design that informs, inspires, and converts. While you won’t build UI directly, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring our marketing and product experiences feel unified, intuitive, and distinctly Weaver.
This is a hands-on role that blends creativity with curiosity — particularly in exploring AI tools like Nano Banana, and VO3 to enhance efficiency, creativity, and innovation across the design process.
Key ResponsibilitiesCreative Design and Execution
- Create digital-first campaign assets across email, WhatsApp, SMS, web, app, and social platforms.
- Conceptualize and design compelling visuals that bring marketing messages and customer journeys to life.
- Maintain and evolve brand identity and visual consistency across all materials and platforms.
- Ensure every piece of work is polished, on-brief, and aligned with agreed timelines and standards.
Brand Guardianship
- Serve as a visual custodian for both PayJustNow and FinChoice, ensuring consistency across tone, colour, typography, and visual storytelling.
- Help define how our brands show up across new channels, moments, and formats.
- Collaborate with marketing and product teams to uphold design integrity in every customer touchpoint.
- Partner with marketers, copywriters, and planners to co-create integrated campaigns.
- Work closely with product and CRM teams to design assets that complement digital journeys and behavioural messaging.
- Participate in creative reviews, planning sessions, and workshops to ensure design contributes to strategic outcomes.
Innovation and AI Enablement
- Experiment with emerging AI design tools such as Nano Banana, and VO3 to improve speed, personalization, and creative exploration.
- Identify opportunities to use AI to optimize repetitive tasks and expand creative
potential. - Share learnings and contribute to establishing best practices for AI-assisted creative workflows.
Continuous Improvement
- Stay up to date with design trends, fintech storytelling, and digital communication best practices.
- Contribute ideas that improve brand impact, design efficiency, and campaign effectiveness.
- In time, provide mentorship or guidance to junior designers as the team scales.
About You
- 5–8 years of experience in graphic or digital design, ideally within fintech, retail, orhigh-growth digital brands.
- Proven ability to design across digital channels with a mobile-first mindset.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating concept development, visual storytelling, and campaign design.
- Skilled in Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, and other modern design tools.
- Familiar with AI-assisted design and curious about tools such as Nano Banana, and VO3.
- Deep understanding of visual hierarchy, typography, and digital usability.
- A team player who values collaboration, accountability, and creative excellence.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or related field.
