This is a hands-on leadership position, ideal for someone who enjoys managing people and projects on site while still staying technically involved.

Candidate Requirements
Technical Leadership & Installation
-
Lead installation, upgrades, and commissioning of industrial refrigeration systems

Provide on-site technical leadership to artisans, technicians, and assistants

Oversee pressure testing, leak detection, commissioning, and performance testing

Troubleshoot complex mechanical and system issues
Project & Site Coordination
-
Assist with planning scopes of work, labour, and materials
-
Coordinate on-site activities across mechanical, electrical, and other trades
-
Attend site meetings and provide progress updates to management
-
Identify variations and issues and escalate appropriately
Compliance & Safety
-
Ensure all work complies with OHS Act, COID, and relevant SANS standards
-
Maintain site documentation (risk assessments, permits, inductions, method statements)
-
Lead by example in safe ammonia (NH₃) and refrigerant handling practices
Client & Team Engagement
-
Act as a key on-site contact for clients during installations
-
Communicate clearly on progress, timelines, and technical matters
-
Work closely with engineering, service, and office teams
Handover & Continuous Improvement
-
Assist with system handover, documentation, and client training
-
Contribute to post-project reviews to improve future delivery
