Job Title: Health Safety and Environment Officer

Job Type: 4 Months Fixed Term Contract
Job Summary:
The Health Safety and Environment Officer will be responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and environmental compliance within the company. The candidate will work closely with various departments to implement and maintain policies, procedures, and programs to ensure a safe and healthy work environment for all employees. The HSE Officer will also be responsible for conducting regular inspections, audits, and training programs to promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures
- Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify and address potential hazards or risks
- Provide guidance and support to management and employees on health, safety, and environmental issues
- Coordinate and conduct training programs on health, safety, and environmental regulations and best practices
- Monitor and report on health, safety, and environmental performance metrics
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to identify root causes and implement corrective actions
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards
- Maintain records and documentation related to health, safety, and environmental practices
- Stay up-to-date on industry trends and best practices in health, safety, and environmental management
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, environmental science, or related field
- Certification in occupational health and safety (e.g. NEBOSH, OSHA)
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a health, safety, and environmental role
- Strong knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Candidate Requirements
Matric/ Grade 12
Degree/Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or Environmental Science or related field
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
Valid Driver’s License (Added Advantage)
Proficiency in basic computer applications (i.e Ms Office)
Knowledge of health and safety legislation
Attention to detail
Ability to work as part of a team
Communication skills
Organizational skills
