About our Client
Our Client is the Main Contractor for a large mixed-use housing development on the northern outskirts of Stellenbosch. The project will deliver up to 1,320 residential units (apartments, houses, simplexes, townhouses, courtyard units, freestanding homes) plus a proposed mix of amenities: shopping centre, retail, recreational facilities, schools, communal and lifestyle facilities.
The project has received a strong sustainability accreditation and has reportedly earned a six-star rating from Green Building Council South Africa (GBCSA) as a “Sustainable Precinct”.
Our Client could be described as themselves being part of the infrastructure division of the wider group, with capacity to handle commercial, housing and large-scale projects across South Africa and Africa including projects in the Western Cape / Stellenbosch area.
What the Stellenbosch project involves
The unit mix is broad: apartments, simplexes (sectional-title houses), townhouses, courtyard units, and freestanding houses — giving flexibility in size and type of home.
Prices (as published) for the different unit types have been announced: simplexes / apartments start at roughly under ZAR 800,000; simplexes from below ZAR 900,000; houses from around ZAR 1.8 million to just over ZAR 4 million (depending on type).
The planned development is more than housing: it includes a retail component (shopping centre ~7,500 m²), community amenities (urban-farm, dog park, recreation spaces, sports courts, skate-park, walking/cycling routes), social infrastructure (school, crèche, church), and much more — aiming to create a self-contained, mixed-use neighbourhood.
Our Clients footprint & capabilities
Our Client offers a full spectrum of construction services: housing (subsidized, bonded, rental, social), student accommodation, commercial buildings, hospitals/clinics, retail centres, hotels/leisure, etc.
Their team is described as experienced, and they handle the full lifecycle of projects — from initial design through to handover.
The group structure provides them access to resources, materials-supply divisions, and infrastructure-division support — which helps in managing large or complex developments.
Because the project is multi-phase and mixed-use, completion dates and final home-delivery timelines could stretch over several years — so what’s “ready now” vs “planned/under construction” might vary by phase.
