Faircape Health is expanding its sub-acute and rehabilitation services at our esteemed long-term healthcare facility in Somerset West.

We cater to patients requiring short-term, long-term, dementia, respite, and palliative care—delivered in a secure, supportive, and compassionate environment.

Our world-class care model bridges the gap between hospital and home, with a highly skilled Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) dedicated to creating the most therapeutic setting possible. Every aspect of our care aims to support healing, comfort, dignity, and quality of life.

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Registered Nurse (Night) to join our team at Heritage Manor, Somerset West.

About the Role

The Registered Nurse will work hand-in-hand with the Shift Leader to ensure smooth night-time operations, continuity of care, and effective coordination across the facility. You will play a central role in overseeing nursing functions, supporting the care team, and upholding the exceptional clinical standards that Faircape Health is known for.

As a pivotal member of our healthcare team, you will report to the Senior Shift Leader and be responsible for maintaining high levels of patient care and operational flow during night shifts. You will be supported by:

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Tasks:

  • Implement, review, and update individualized care plans to reflect residents’ evolving medical and personal needs.
  • Monitor staff compliance with care plans, clinical standards, and facility protocols.
  • Conduct high-risk assessments and accurately document all essential clinical information.
  • Uphold best-practice clinical methods in all tasks performed within the facility.
  • Ensure safe, compliant administration of medication (self and nursing staff), including proper storage and management of blister packs.
  • Implement and maintain infection control protocols when required.
  • Manage clinical stock, including monitoring par levels and ensuring timely restocking of supply cupboards.

Emergency and Incident Management:

  • Follow established policies in the event of emergencies, including calling Emergency Services as needed for the Healthcare Facility or Village.
  • Act according to patients' living wills or advanced directives during emergencies or resuscitation efforts.
  • Ensure the multidisciplinary team (MDT) and families are promptly informed of any incidents or resident deaths.

Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • SANC registered as a Registered Nurse.
  • Up-to-date Basic Life Support certification is advantageous.

Experience and Knowledge:

  • Proven experience as a Registered Nurse 
  • Knowledge of Dementia care, Frail care, and Palliative care is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in organizing and delivering training sessions for staff development.
  • Experience in scheduling and managing staff shifts.

Skills and Attributes:

  • Clinical Expertise: Strong clinical skills and experience in nursing practice, including assessments, treatments, and patient care.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact 
  • Problem-Solving: Capability to make critical decisions, solve complex problems, and handle emergency situations calmly and efficiently.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility to handle changing circumstances and adapt quickly to new protocols or procedures.
  • Team Collaboration: Foster a collaborative environment, working closely with other healthcare professionals to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
  • Ability to effectively manage a nursing unit's daily operations.
  • Skilled in addressing and correcting staff behaviour or performance issues.
  • Time Management: Efficiently manage time and resources during shifts to prioritise patient care and operational tasks.

Specific Requirements:

  • Clear health record.
  • Clear criminal record.
  • Clear credit record.
  • Two positive references.

Working Hours:

  • Normal working days are Monday to Sunday.
  • You will be required to work 16.25 shifts per month.
  • Night shifts are from 19h00 - 07h00

Faircape Benefits:

  • Quarterly performance bonuses
