A Sales Representative is responsible for identifying new business opportunities, building strong customer relationships, and driving sales to achieve company targets. This role involves prospecting, presenting products or services, negotiating deals, closing sales, and providing exceptional after-sales support. The Sales Representative serves as the face of the company, ensuring clients receive professional, knowledgeable, and solution-driven service.Sales & Business DevelopmentIdentify and pursue new business opportunities through cold calling, networking, and leads.Conduct sales presentations and product demonstrations to potential clients.Develop and maintain a strong sales pipeline.Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets.Client Relationship ManagementBuild and maintain long-term relationships with clients.Understand client needs and propose relevant products or services.Provide ongoing support and follow-up after sales.Manage customer queries and ensure excellent customer service.Negotiation & ClosingPrepare quotations, proposals, and service agreements.Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions to close deals.Ensure all sales documentation is completed accurately.Reporting & AdministrationMaintain accurate customer records and sales data.Prepare weekly and monthly sales reports.Track market trends, competitor activity, and customer feedback.Work closely with internal teams to ensure smooth order processing and delivery.Field WorkConduct site visits, client meetings, and product demonstrations.Represent the company at trade shows, networking events, and exhibitions where required.
Qualifications
- Matric (Grade 12) required.
- Sales or marketing qualification (advantageous).
- Product-specific training depending on industry.
- 1–3 years experience in sales, business development, or a customer-facing role.
- Experience in the specific industry (e.g., office automation, hospitality, FMCG) is advantageous.
- Proven track record of achieving sales targets.
- Strong understanding of sales techniques, pipelines, and CRM systems.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle (required for most sales roles).
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Strong negotiation and persuasion skills.
- Results-driven and target-oriented.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service abilities.
- Confident, professional, and well-presented.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong time-management and organisational skills.
- High energy and self-motivated.
- Resilient with the ability to handle rejection.
- Problem-solving mindset and solution-driven approach.
