My client, one of the major role players in the pome fruit industry located in Grabouw, is seeking to employ a dynamic Vehicle Workshop and Transport Foreman to join their engineering team.

Requirements:

Qualified Diesel Mechanic with 5 years post trade test experience
3 - 5 years management experience
Must be computer literate.
The position requires willingness to work extended hours.
Sound technical knowledge of trucks, forklifts and other diesel vehicles
Must hold a Code 8 driver's license (Code EC with a calid PDP or Forklift license will be preferred)
Procurement experience
Medially fit to perform the duties as required

Key Performance Areas:

Ensure a planned maintenance schedule is always available to minimise defects and breakdowns.
Ensure breakdowns are attended to with a matter of urgency.
Monitor to ensure all maintenance is carried out according to procedures and vehicle requirements.
Fleet management and implement controls to ensure sufficient spares are available for the efficient maintenance of vehicles.
Conduct quality checks on repaired vehicles to ensure service standards are maintained.
Demonstrate leadership skills, motivation and conflict resolution.
Ensure smooth transport coordination and effective performance management of subordinates.
Ensure sound relations are maintained with internal and external customers.
Take necessary precautions to control and safeguard company assets.
Ensure that housekeeping is completed on an ongoing basis to keep the workshop clean and safe.
Assist the direct manager by providing input into the budgeting process.
Monitor costs by analysing cost allocations; identify discrepancies and implement cost saving strategies.
