- Qualified Diesel Mechanic with 5 years post trade test experience
- 3 - 5 years management experience
- Must be computer literate.
- The position requires willingness to work extended hours.
- Sound technical knowledge of trucks, forklifts and other diesel vehicles
- Must hold a Code 8 driver's license (Code EC with a calid PDP or Forklift license will be preferred)
- Procurement experience
- Medially fit to perform the duties as required
- Ensure a planned maintenance schedule is always available to minimise defects and breakdowns.
- Ensure breakdowns are attended to with a matter of urgency.
- Monitor to ensure all maintenance is carried out according to procedures and vehicle requirements.
- Fleet management and implement controls to ensure sufficient spares are available for the efficient maintenance of vehicles.
- Conduct quality checks on repaired vehicles to ensure service standards are maintained.
- Demonstrate leadership skills, motivation and conflict resolution.
- Ensure smooth transport coordination and effective performance management of subordinates.
- Ensure sound relations are maintained with internal and external customers.
- Take necessary precautions to control and safeguard company assets.
- Ensure that housekeeping is completed on an ongoing basis to keep the workshop clean and safe.
- Assist the direct manager by providing input into the budgeting process.
- Monitor costs by analysing cost allocations; identify discrepancies and implement cost saving strategies.
