Grabouw. Our client, one of the leading role players in the sorting, packaging and marketing of fruit is currently looking for an energetic Fitter and Turner to join their packhouse maintenance team.

Key Responsibilities Include:

Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
Fabricate, assemble, install, maintain, and repair machinery and components.
Troubleshoot mechanical issues and perform preventative maintenance.
Operate hand and machine tools (lathes, milling machines, grinders, welding).
Work with various metals and materials.
Collaborate with engineers and tradespeople on projects.
Complete job cards, time sheets, and assist with spare parts procurement.
Train, guide, and motivate apprentices and junior staff.
Maintain a safe, clean workspace and prioritize food safety

Requirements:

Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate
Fitter and Turner Red Seal Trade Certificate
Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a qualified Fitter & Turner in a manufacturing environment, preferably with packhouse experience.
Strong problem-solving, analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Basic electrical knowledge, numeracy skills, and ability to operate lathes and milling machines.
Supervisory abilities, innovative thinking, and capacity to train and lead others.
Physically capable of lifting heavy equipment and working at heights or in confined spaces.
Familiarity with company processes and systems, including BRC, safety systems, and SOPs.
