Key Responsibilities
1 Counselling & Support
- Conduct pre-test and post-test counselling for HIV, following national counselling protocols.
- Provide ongoing psycho-social support to employees living with HIV/AIDS.
- Support adherence to treatment, care plans, and referrals to local clinics/health facilities.
- Identify employees needing further support and escalate cases appropriately.
2 HIV Testing & Education
- Facilitate HIV testing in partnership with qualified medical staff (e.g., OH Nurse / visiting medical practitioner).
- Provide accurate information on HIV prevention, treatment, ART adherence, and PrEP/PEP.
- Conduct group education sessions, toolbox talks, and awareness campaigns.
3 Workplace Wellness & Case Management
- Support HIV/TB/Chronic Disease Management programmes in line with company policies.
- Maintain confidential documentation and records as per POPIA requirements.
- Assist with developing and implementing HIV/AIDS workplace programmes and policies.
- Participate in wellness days, screening events, and health promotion activities.
4 Stakeholder Liaison
- Work with HR, Safety, and Occupational Health teams to support employee wellness programmes.
- Build relationships with community health partners, NGOs, and local clinics.
5 Reporting & Administration
- Maintain accurate, confidential counselling notes and statistics.
- Submit monthly HIV/AIDS programme data while ensuring anonymity and compliance with privacy laws.
- Participate in audits and quality improvement processes.
Required Skills
- Counselor Training: 1 to 2 years
- Hiv Testing & Counseling: 1 to 2 years
Candidate Requirements
Required Qualifications & Training
Preferred Education
- Grade 12 (Matric) – essential.
- HIV Counselling and Testing (HCT) Certificate – accredited by HWSETA or an approved training provider.
- Additional HIV-related or health counselling certificates, such as:
- HIV Testing Services (HTS) Training
- TB/HIV Care Counselling Courses
- ART Adherence Counselling
- Community Health Worker NQF Level 2–4 (advantageous)
- Psychosocial Support Course (e.g., via FPD, Arum Institute, SANAC partners)
- Basic First Aid – advantageous.
Experience
- At least 1–2 years’ experience in HIV/AIDS counselling, community health work, or wellness.
- Experience in workplace health or projects within corporate/industrial settings is an advantage.
