Diesel Mechanic - Addo (PE)Our client based just outside of Addo Elephant Park is on a recruitment drive for a Diesel Mechanic for their corporate division.Purpose of the RoleTo provide expert mechanical support across yellow metal machinery, earth-moving equipment, and heavy-duty trucks. The role ensures optimal performance, safety, and reliability of all diesel-powered fleet and equipment through preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and effective repairs.Key ResponsibilitiesMaintenance & RepairsPerform scheduled preventative maintenance on yellow metals, earth-moving machines, and trucks.Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults and conduct repairs to manufacturer standards.Overhaul engines, transmissions, braking systems, and other critical components.Inspect equipment thoroughly to identify wear, damage, or potential failures.Complete breakdown call-outs and field repairs when required.Technical & ComplianceEnsure all repairs comply with OEM specifications, company standards, and safety regulations.Conduct pre- and post-maintenance testing to verify reliability and performance.Maintain accurate service records, job cards, and reports.Use diagnostic equipment, tools, and systems to troubleshoot issues efficiently.Ensure proper use, care, and calibration of workshop tools and machinery.Operational SupportAssist with maintaining workshop cleanliness, safety protocols, and tool control.Liaise with supervisors regarding job priorities, required parts, and equipment downtime.Provide guidance to assistants or apprentices as needed.Engage in continuous improvement of maintenance processes and fleet uptime.

Minimum Requirements

• Qualified Diesel Mechanic (Red Seal or equivalent).
• 3–5 years’ experience working on yellow metal / earth-moving equipment and heavy-duty trucks.
• Strong diagnostic skills (mechanical, electrical, hydraulic).
• Valid driver’s license (Code 14 advantageous).
• Ability to work independently, under pressure, and within tight operational timelines.
• Willingness to work overtime, shifts, standby, and attend breakdowns off-site when needed.
