CME Recruitment is seeking an experienced Sushi Chef to join an exclusive fine dining restaurant located on a luxury wine estate in the Stellenbosch area.

This is an incredible opportunity for a culinary professional with a deep appreciation for Japanese cuisine and precision craftsmanship. You’ll work alongside a world-class Head Chef, ensuring the highest quality standards in presentation, taste, and innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and present a variety of sushi and Japanese dishes with artistic precision
• Support the Head Chef with menu development, quality control, and kitchen operations
• Train and guide junior chefs in food preparation and plating
• Manage stock rotation, ingredient quality, and hygiene standards
• Maintain the refined standards expected of an award-winning fine dining venue

Requirements:

• Matric; Culinary qualification advantageous
• 4+ years’ experience in a senior sushi or Asian cuisine role
• Strong knife skills and deep understanding of traditional and modern sushi techniques
• Excellent leadership, communication, and teamwork abilities
• Own transport and flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays

Location: Stellenbosch Winelands
Market-related salary, dependent on experience
