Candidate Requirements

Requirements:

•        Registration with SANC as a Professional Nurse (NQF 7 qualification required)

•        Post-basic qualification in Operating Room Nursing (essential)

•        Minimum 3–5 years’ recent theatre experience, with strong exposure to scrub and circulating procedures

•        In-depth knowledge of perioperative nursing standards, infection prevention protocols, and theatre safety regulations

•        Proven competence in clinical decision-making, problem-solving, and managing complex theatre cases

•        Strong understanding of surgical instrumentation, theatre workflows, equipment management, and aseptic techniques

•        Ability to guide, mentor and support theatre staff in clinical best practice

•        Sound understanding of quality assurance, auditing processes, risk management and clinical governance within the theatre environment

•        Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with surgeons, anaesthetists, and multidisciplinary teams

•        Ability to function independently and maintain high standards of clinical practice under pressure
