Seeking skilled Technicians for the assembly, testing, and quality assurance of various electrical/electronic products including LED streetlights, energy meters, water meters, etc. The role includes precise assembly of electronic circuits and components, conducting end-of-line testing, firmware loading, and ensuring all products meet quality standards before dispatch. This position is critical to maintaining production efficiency and delivering high-quality electrical/electronic products to our customers.
2. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
General
1. Assembly of electronic circuits, PCB modules, wiring harnesses, and mechanical components.
2. Perform SMD and through-hole soldering inclusive of component placement.
3. Conduct end-of-line testing (EOL).
4. Load and configure firmware on electronic devices.
5. Undertake calibration on electronic devices.
6. Troubleshoot defects and perform quality control checks.
Candidate Requirements
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (EITHER OF):
- Electronics Mechanic / Electrician / Instrument Mechanic / Fitter
- Diploma / Technical Certificate in Electrical Engineering
- Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE), Instrumentation Technology, or Mechatronics
- B. Tech/ BEng. in Electrical or Electronic Engineering
SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Ability to read and interpret electrical/electronic circuit diagrams, schematics, and technical drawings
- Proficient in soldering techniques and component placement
- Knowledge of electronic components, PCB assembly, and wiring harness construction
- Experience with testing equipment, multimeters, oscilloscopes, and calibration tools
- Competent in conducting end-of-line testing (EOL) and quality control procedures
- Familiarity with firmware loading and configuration on electronic devices
- Understanding of calibration procedures for meters and electronic instruments
- Troubleshooting and fault-finding skills in electrical/electronic systems
- Knowledge of SANS (South African National Standards) and IEC standards for electrical products
- Proficiency in electronic filing systems, database management, and record-keeping
- Computer literacy for firmware operations, testing software, and documentation
- Understanding of manufacturing processes and quality assurance principles
- Ability to develop and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Experience with inspection techniques and component verification methods
- Report writing and technical documentation skills
- Knowledge of electrical safety practices and PPE requirements
- Familiarity with LED lighting technology, energy meters, and/or water meters (advantageous)
